FINDThe FCC adopted a Report and Order on August 1, 2019. These regulations, which provide rules for Kari's Law and Ray Baum's Act, may be more stringent than the current state of Massachusetts E911 legislation.

As of July 1, 2009, all new or substantially renovated ECS such as Centrex, PBX and hybrid telephone systems must route emergency calls to the appropriate PSAP and provide ANI and ALI for every 9-1-1 call. The level of detail required for ALI data and exemptions are outlined as well.

Kari's Law was enacted in February 2018, and requires that all phones must be able to directly dial 9-1-1 without any additional digit, prefix, or trunk-access code beforehand, such as ‘9'. Also, the system from which 9-1-1 is dialed must provide a notification to a central location at the facility where the system is installed alerting another person or organization to the existence of an emergency call.
What this means for you and your business...
